This year is a weird one. A lot of our day-to-day activities and things we see as “normal” have been altered or taken away completely. As we approached the end of October – things sort of felt out of place. We weren’t scrambling to get our booth shipped, sorting out transport for cars, rushing to get new products to debut – and for the first time in a long time, we didn’t spend Halloween in Vegas.

A relief? Maybe to some. Nonetheless, for us, it still felt like SEMA was happening. We felt the “SEMA crunch” – but not really for SEMA360, we felt it for Global Time Attack Finals. As you probably have heard, we’ve been building this Evo X time attack car for the past few years. Previously, it has landed on magazine covers, major Youtube channels, and more. But, this year, the goal was to completely rebuild it from the ground up, and get it to the GTA Finals on November 13th.

Soon after we began the rebuild and started releasing the photos and videos – another opportunity presented itself. We were invited to debut Version 3.0 the car at the Toyo Tires Treadpass 3D.

Usually taking place at the SEMA Show, Toyo Tires’ Treadpass spotlights the industry’s most impressive and influential builds. Between the proper lighting, bright blue carpet, and a dozen insane builds on Toyos, the Treadpass is a true highlight of SEMA.

The pandemic and the lockdown stopped a lot of things – but it didn’t stop people from building cars. If anything, builders had more time to spend in the garage. So, the cancellation of SEMA didn’t stop Toyo from making sure builders got recognition this year.

For us, the Treadpass just barely squeezed into our schedule. We had dyno and track testing the weekend prior to the Treadpass. Then the day before the Global Time Attack Finals, we picked up the car from the Treadpass for a couple finishing touches before heading to Buttonwillow.

We were given an address to a warehouse in Downtown LA – an all-black building, with some Toyo Tires flags out front… around the back, a huge shop door that opened up into what felt like an actual slice of the SEMA Show.

We could be biased, but our bright Ferrari Red Evo seemed to draw in attention. It sat alongside eleven other awesome builds – like ButtonBuilt’s Jeep Gladiator, the first ever Pandem C8 Corvette from LTMW, Daniel Song’s A90 Supra, and more.

Luckily, we got to check out some of the cars when we dropped off the Evo, and were invited back for a “Media Day.” But, for the public, these builds at the Treadpass were a secret until the following week. Then, viewers could check out the cars in detail, learn more about the builds, and even get a chance to score the limited edition pins, all in VR style on Toyo’s website.
